George Lucas has finally seen the trailer for the new Star Wars.
The man behind the franchise set in a galaxy far, far away has mostly
remained silent about the latest J.J. Abrams-directed installment,
previously deflecting reporters' questions about the film by saying he's
"retired."
Shortly after the trailer for the Abrams-directed movie debuted, even though the clip was a hot topic online, Lucas said he hadn't seen the preview.
But he has seen it now, telling Page Six at a Lucasfilm, Touchstone
Pictures and Cinema Society-hosted screening of his new film, Strange
Magic, that he saw the trailer in a theater "because I don't watch
movies online."
When asked if he liked it, Lucas smiled and told the New York Post's gossip column, "Yeah, it was intriguing."
The screening at the Tribeca Grand was also attended by Alan Cumming;
Evan Rachel Wood; Kristin Chenoweth; and Nashville's Sam Palladio — all
of whom lent their voices to the animated film — as well as CBS News'
Norah O'Donnell; Hugh Jackman's wife, Deborra-Lee Furness; and JCrew
creative director Jenna Lyons.
